HAPPY MOTHERS DAY! An Open Letter/Poem to my Mother!
Mother! Today is a special day,
So I make it a point to GIVE....
Your "Rose's"- my words of Appreciation.
I celebrate you while you LIVE!
For you see you made it a point
To invest, your energy, tears, sweat, and SACRIFICE!
To raise 4 girls almost stair-stepped in age
With such grace, strength, PRIDE.
I have treasured, and still do treasure,
Every moment you effortlessly PROVIDE.
You were always a strong example
Of how we as women could do it ALL in STRIDE!
A Wife, Mother, Encourager, Nurturer, Educator, Liturgist, Girl scout leader, and FRIEND....
The list could go on to infinite and beyond
You've even added DOCTOR now-
Beyond professor to your name to AMEND.
So Dr. Thomas, you never let a number define you or your abilities with AGE,
Your accomplishments no matter what season in life,
Speak on your personal wall of FAME!
YOU are a timeless inspiration, and a most coveted friend of FRIENDS,
A wonderful listener, with a great sense of humor,
Whose laugh lightens any load in an INSTANT!
Your love for life simply PRICELESS.
Your laughter is CONTAGIOUS.
Your nuture of others ENDLESS,
Your energy level, STUPENDOUS!
And yet, 55 years later in mothering 4 adult daughters there is so much more I can APPLAUD!
But you my virtuous mother by example, you truly excellest them ALL!
Charm in itself is deceitful, and beauty in itself is VAIN,
Though with ease you hold these amazing traits too, your fear of the Lord is at MOST TO BE PRAISED!
I love you and cherish you!
And these words/"roses" I lovingly GIVE!
I pray you receive from my heart to yours for I Honor you while you LIVE!
