Happy Thanksgiving from our home to yours!

Happy Thanksgiving from our home to yours!

Psalm 100:4-5 NKJV, states, "Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations."

And Colossians 2:6-7 (NIV) also states, "6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, 7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness."

Is it no surprise after reading these scriptures, that thankfulness should be an every day occurrence and mindset toward God?

More often than once a year at Thanksgiving, God asks us to develop a discipline of thankfulness in our lives — which is simply an act of will. We do all kinds of things in our lives as an act of will — we go to work each day, we exercise, we pay the bills, we buy the groceries, and … we can also give thanks! God wants us to give thanks in all circumstances, for this is His will in Christ Jesus.
I Thessalonians 5:18

In other words, at the very moment that we don’t feel we have any reason to be thankful, we can praise the One who declares over our lives that nothing is impossible with God.”  Luke 1:37

As with any discipline, the more we make it our practice to do be thankful as with any other discipline in life: athlete, dancer, artist, or yoga and the list goes on, as Christians, we have a promise that God's presence is close by! As we draw near to God in the discipline of thankfulness, He draws near to us because He literally inhabits our praises.

Thankfulness is an investment in our relationship with God. When we make it a habit to respond to the Lord, with praise and thankfulness, we will only grow stronger in our faith and trust in the Creator.   I know because my faith and trust grew when I made it a priority in my life.

What are you thankful for today?

Celebrating Thanksgiving every day in every way.
